Browse Dictionary

The Browse Dictionary feature allow the design code searcher to view the words indexed by the search engine, providing an opportunity of viewing the spelling variations and occurrence counts for the DSCM. The Browse Dictionary feature lists the words indexed, the count of records (Docs) containing the word, and the count of occurrences for the word.

Enter a search term in the Dictionary term text box and select the Browse button to retrieve a list of terms occurring in the index surrounding your search term. Note that each dictionary term listed is a hot link to the search engine, so clicking on any dictionary term listed automatically performs a search of that entry.

Adjust the length of the list of dictionary terms retrieved by changing the Max Returned Terms value and click on the Change button.

If you wish to exclude rarely occurring terms from the list, enter a numeric value (e.g., 3) in the text box below the Min number of documents the term appears in label, click on the Change button, and any dictionary term occurring fewer than your numeric value will be excluded from the list of index terms provided.

Following is a sample Dictionary Browse list using the default setting of 10 returned terms for the search term DOG. Note that both the singular (DOG) and plural (DOGS) forms of the search term are listed along with approximately 10 dictionary terms preceding and 10 dictionary terms following the searched term. (These listed terms are not hot links to the search engine.)
