Specific Guideline:
Specific
Guideline 1: All designs
of mythological beings (personages, not creatures) are in 04.01.07.
Mythological beings are cross-coded in the Human Category only when they are
depicted as ordinary humans having no indicia of their mythological
powers.

This design is not double coded in Category 02 because the lightning bolt indicates power.
This design is coded in both 04.01.07 and 02.01.12 (Greeks) and 02.01.01 (Heads of men) because the design has no indicia of the person’s power.
Specific Guideline
2: Superbeings are
always double coded in 04.01.07 and in
the appropriate human section in Category 02. Superbeings are characterized
as cartoon-type superheroes and are often wearing a cape and tights.

04.01.08 Santa Claus
Note: Many
beings in 04.01.25 such as
Robin Hood, Paul Bunyan and other giants, the Pied Piper and wizards are
often double coded in the appropriate human section in Category 02. For
example, when searching wizards also cross-reference with 02.01.04 and 02.01.21. Specific
Guideline: Winged
lions should be coded with heraldic lions (03.01.02). Excluding: Letters
or numerals, including punctuation, forming representations of human beings
or animals (27.01.01; 27.01.02). Specific
Guideline: A plant
that represents or forms a human is in 04.07.01, the
specific section for the plant in Category 05 and grotesque humans in 02.01.33, 02.03.26 or 02.05.26.
04.07.02 Objects or
combinations of objects representing a person
Specific
Guideline:
Objects include design elements other than humans, animals, plants, geometric figures,
letters or numbers. An object that represents or forms a human is coded
in 04.07.02, in the specific section
for the object and in grotesque humans in Category 02.
04.07.03 Geometric
figures or combinations of geometric figures representing a person
Specific
Guideline: A geometric
figure or a combination of geometric figures representing or forming a
person are in 04.07.03, in
the appropriate section for geometrics in Category 26 and in grotesque
humans in Category 02. Specific
Guideline:
A plant that represents or forms an animal is coded
in 04.07.05, in
the specific section for the plant in Category 05, and in the
appropriate realistic animal section and the stylized section
for the animal in Category 03.
04.07.06 Objects or
combinations of objects representing an animal
Specific
Guideline:
Objects include design elements other than humans, animals, plants, geometric
figures, letters or numbers. An object that represents or forms an animal is
in 04.07.06, the specific section
for the object, the appropriate realistic animal section and the stylized
section for the animal in Category 03.
This design is coded
in 04.07.06 because an
object forms the animal, in 22.01.04 because the objects
in the design are drums, in 03.21.07 because the animal
formed is a turtle, and in 03.21.24 because the turtle
is stylized. 04.07.07 Geometric

The second design is coded in 04.07.02 (objects forming humans),
